Application Requirements


1. Completed Application

2. Transcripts (in English)

Scanned copies are accepted for evaluation of your application, but originals must be received before you begin classes at Duquesne. If you have enrolled in an ESL program in the United States, you also must submit the ESL transcripts.

3. Recommendation Letter (1)

4. Freshman Essay

5. English Language Scores


International undergraduate students can apply in one of two ways:

  • Submit a TOEFL, IELTS, Pearson Test of English, Duolingo English Test, or a score of 540 or higher on the SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section
  • Test upon arrival to campus


International Transfer applications must additionally submit:

7. Official Transcript Evaluation, if university was outside of the USA

8. Admissions Transfer Form

To be completed by the Office of the Dean of Students at each college or university in which you were enrolled.



To apply, contact the appropriate Graduate Department for the specific process and documents that need to be submitted for admission.


Generally, these are requirements that can be expected for the graduate programs:

1. Completed Application

2. Official Transcript Evaluation

3. University transcripts

4. GRE/GMAT (for some programs)

5. English Language Score (IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo)

6. Statement of Purpose

7. Recommendation letters (2-3)



Follow these steps to apply to the Duquesne University's

Global English Institute (GEI):

1. Submit the online application

2. Look for an email from the Duquesne University Global English Institute.

3. Click on the "Create Account" link.

4. Upload your secondary school OR university transcripts.
